Today you’ll enjoy some free time and go for a nice walk at the seaside. In the evening you can enjoy a nice stroll through the historic center.

On the second day in Palermo, you will enjoy some major landmarks, such as Pretoria Square, located close to the Vigliena intersection known as the “Quattro Canti”, the very center of the old Palermo. The square is on a higher level than Via Maqueda and it’s enriched by a monumental fountain in the middle. Afterwards, another marvelous landmark is the Cathedral of Palermo, it is one of the most important architectural monuments in Sicily, built in 1184 by the Normans as a re-converted Christian church on the site of a Muslim Mosque that was previously built over a Christian Basilica. Finally, the Palazzo dei Normanni (Norman Palace) is also called Royal Palace of Palermo. It was the seat of the Kings of Sicily during the Hautville dynasty and served afterwards as the main seat of power for the subsequent rulers of Sicily.

On your third day, you will visit the beautiful sea town of Cefalù, full of beauty and history. Cefalù, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is one of the most evocative destinations on the island. The town is dominated by a monumental rock rising to a height of 270 meters (885 feet), already known to the Phoenicians as the promontory of Hercules, on which stands the Temple of Diana, a megalithic building linked to the cult of water, as indicated by the nearby cistern dating from the 9th century BC.

An ideal starting point for exploring the center of the village, characterized by narrow streets paved with the pebbles of the beach and the limestone of the Rocca, is the Lungomare Giuseppe Giardina, where you can stroll along accompanied by the sound of the waves and the undertow of the sea on the beach.

On the way back to Palermo, you will stop in Monreale to visit the amazing Cathedral and discover together the history and the meaning of its gold mosaics decorations. Not only the church, but also the cloister of the monastery is worth a visit.
